Common Vegetable’s Anti-Aging Secret

By |2021-12-30T04:34:34-05:00December 30th, 2021|Nutrition|

The famous 19th century artist Paul Cézanne, said, “The day is coming when a single carrot, freshly observed, will set off a revolution.”

I don’t suppose the revolution he was thinking of concerned the extension of human lifespan. Nevertheless, modern scientists have discovered that carrots, and other plants that contain pigments called carotenoids, might be able to extend our lives.

Carotenoids encompass a huge family of colorful pigments that are predominantly found in fruits and vegetables. Carotenoids include alpha and beta carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin, and beta-cryptoxanthin.

Some carotenoids convert to vitamin A in the body, and they also have powerful free radical-quenching […]

Does Surviving Cancer Impact the Way You Age?

By |2021-12-23T12:06:53-05:00December 23rd, 2021|Natural Health|

A cancer patient’s ordeal doesn’t end with an all-clear from the oncologist. In fact, even if they’re sent home with the wonderful news that they’re cancer free, cancer survivors are likely to face long-term health issues. Especially if they opted for conventional cancer treatments.

Many of these health issues may be well-known to you, but another recent health issue has emerged. I’m talking about how cancer affects the way you age as well as what you can do about it.

There are 17 million cancer survivors in the U.S.; a number that’s expected to grow to 22 million by 2030.

This is welcome […]

Fountain of Youth Protein Reverses Aging

By |2021-12-16T10:43:49-05:00December 16th, 2021|Natural Health|

A protein has shown so much potential to reverse aging that it’s been named NANOG, a name derived from Tír na nÓg, a place in Irish folklore renowned for everlasting youth, beauty, health, abundance, and joy.

The name of this so-called Fountain of Youth protein is well deserved because it’s been shown to turn back the clock—at least at a cellular level, where aging begins.

These new findings could one day result in new treatments to cure age-related diseases, and perhaps even reverse aspects of human aging itself.

NANOG is so powerful because it affects adult stem cells. Adult stem cells are non-specialized […]

Want to Live a Longer and Healthier Life? Ask a Calculator

By |2021-12-09T13:22:25-05:00December 9th, 2021|Natural Health|

In 1965, four percent of the U.S. population was diagnosed with a chronic disease. Today, the figure is a staggering sixty percent.

While doctors can debate the reasons behind this increase until kingdom come, one thing they can agree on is that we need to reverse this dangerous upward trend in illness.

Some researchers say they’ve developed a calculator that can help.

Researchers launched the world’s first algorithm that predicts healthspan – the number of years spent in good health – last October.

It’s called the Vitality Health Futures calculator. It was developed in collaboration between the health insurer Vitality, and the research institute […]

Shrinking With Age Can Double Your Risk of Premature Death

By |2021-12-02T12:09:42-05:00December 2nd, 2021|Natural Health|

Height loss is considered a normal part of aging; nothing to be concerned about. But a rapid decline in stature is certainly not normal. In fact, it’s been shown to increase your risk of death.

Even so, height loss is still a surprisingly neglected medical issue. A new study is aiming to change that…

Adult height remains stable up to the age of 50, but then starts a slow decline that accelerates after age 70. Doctors say this height loss is due to shrinkage of vertebral discs, spinal compression fractures, and changes in posture. And women are at greater risk, losing more […]

New Anti-Aging Research on “Play” Surprises Researchers

By |2021-11-25T13:28:42-05:00November 25th, 2021|Natural Health|

All work and no play doesn’t just make you dull. The latest research reveals it could also shorten your life.

Scientists have found that constantly keeping your nose to the grindstone, and hardly ever taking a vacation, can considerably shorten your life expectancy.

Of course, merely taking more vacations won’t be a panacea for all your health issues. And there are actually a few health dangers that can occur during your vacation (which I’ll describe in a moment). But if you go about your holidays the right way, taking time off can be a big boost to your well-being and your longevity.

Several […]

Can Money Buy a Longer Life?

By |2021-11-18T10:04:25-05:00November 18th, 2021|Lifestyle|

It’s said that money can’t buy you happiness. That’s certainly true. But there’s something money can buy, apparently. According to researchers wealth can buy you a longer life.

Read on to find out just how much wealth researchers say you’ll need to accumulate to extend your lifespan.

The new study, conducted by researchers at Northwestern University, is not the first to examine if money is tied to lifespan.

For instance, a previous study found an increased risk of death among retired stockholders when their wealth was reduced after a sizable fall in the value of their holdings.

Other studies have found that accumulated wealth […]

Scientists Identify New Fountain of Youth Organ?

By |2021-11-11T11:31:34-05:00November 11th, 2021|Natural Health|

With the passage of time, changes to organs and tissues can lead to age-related diseases such as heart disease, cancer and Alzheimer’s. Dozens of medical teams around the world are investigating how this process could be stopped or reversed.

Now research suggests that slowing down the process of aging—and maybe even stopping it all together—begins in one recently discovered organ.

The research shows that if this organ remained a picture of health so would our bodies.

What is it? This brand-new organ is your gut microbiome…

Your gastrointestinal tract contains a microbiome that performs so many functions necessary for our survival that many scientists […]

What is a Good Age to Die?

By |2021-11-04T11:14:20-04:00November 4th, 2021|Lifestyle|

While longevity is a goal for many, others are concerned about living too long and enduring any suffering that might come with it.

For example, the popular British singer and TV presenter, Cilla Black, said in 2010 when she was 67, that she didn’t want to live beyond the age of 75.

Four years later, the acclaimed oncologist, bioethicist and former advisor to President Obama, Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel, then aged 57, echoed her words, writing that “75 years is all I want to live.”

Their comments beg the question, is there a good age to die?

Researchers at the University of Kansas explored […]

World Record for Longevity Smashed – How Much Further Can We Go?

By |2021-10-28T14:45:15-04:00October 28th, 2021|Natural Health|

In September, a man who lived in a remote African village passed away at the ripe old age of 127. If validated and officially recognized, that would make him the oldest person to have ever lived according to scientific record.

This feat of longevity would overtake Jiroemon Kimura from Japan, the previous male record holder who died in 2013 at the age of 116, as well as the current overall world record holder, Jeanne Calment, a French woman who died in 1997 at the age of 122.

Will longevity records continue to be broken in the future or have we reached the […]
